We, the citizens, voters, and staunch defenders of democracy who are witnessing the collapse of principled leadership within the Democratic Party at a moment when our nation needs it most, must demand the immediate removal of Senator Chuck Schumer from his position as Senate Minority Leader.

The recent capitulation during the November 2025 government shutdown was not an isolated misstep, but the final, unforgivable proof of a chronic leadership failure.

Senator Schumer’s inability to hold the line and secure an extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies—allowing eight members of his own caucus to side with Republicans—demonstrates a fatal weakness. He cowered when the nation demanded strength, and he capitulated when the people demanded resistance.

However, this failure of leadership extends far beyond a single vote. He joined as one of ten members of the Capitulation Caucus in March, the last time when Democrats had Trump Republicans over a barrel but found themselves excluded from input on the nation's spending.

Schumer’s weakness is part of a broader pattern of cowardice and complicity that has brought our republic to the brink.

1. Schumer Enabled Trump’s Impunity: The greatest failure of federal law enforcement in American history—the failure to hold Donald Trump accountable before the 2024 election—was enabled by a lack of political courage. Any Democratic leader who does not aggressively fight this systemic collapse is equally responsible for allowing a convicted criminal to seize the White House and dismantle our institutions. Schumer’s silence and inaction in the face of this existential threat are a betrayal.

2. He Presides Over a Caucus of Cowardice: Schumer is propped up by enablers within the Senate Democratic Caucus who provide a performative show of resistance while serving the interests of the billionaires and corporations that fund their campaigns. Their silence in the face of Schumer’s failures is deafening and unacceptable. They are hoping this will all go away, but we will not let it.

3. He Has Abandoned the Party’s Core Principles: While expressing tepid skepticism of figures like Elon Musk or corporate tax cuts, Schumer and his allies have never fought for the transformative, progressive policies we need. They have never proposed reversing the Reaganomics that decimated the working class, nor have they championed tax rates for the super-rich that would create a fair and booming economy. They have adapted to collecting money from the beneficiaries of policies that are killing the Democratic base.

4. He Misjudged the Price of Principle: Allowing a temporary government shutdown would have been a small price to pay to stop the destruction of our democracy. Instead, Schumer taught the American people that Democratic leadership would rather make a bad deal than fight for what is right.

This is not a polite call for reform. This is a demand for revolution inside the Democratic Party.

Chuck Schumer’s leadership has failed America. His continued presence as Minority Leader signals to the nation that the Democratic Party is unwilling to mount a serious defense of our values, our institutions, and our democracy itself.
